Weekly Portfolio Update: Navigating Momentum in the Market
This week, the financial landscape continues to be shaped by the strategic moves of our momentum-based investment strategy, inspired by Andreas Clenow’s ‘Stocks On The Move’. The S&P 500 has been trading above its 200-day moving average for 49 days, marking a period of relative stability. Our cash share is low at 0.539%, suggesting we’re almost fully invested.
Trades of the Week: Buys, Sells, and Adjustments
We’re excited to announce some new additions to our portfolio, reflecting our commitment to momentum investing. NEW BUYS include Comfort Systems USA, Inc. (FIX) from the Services sector, Jabil Inc. (JBL), a Technology sector giant recently ranking high on annualized adjusted slope, Oracle Corporation (ORCL), a consistent performer in Information Technology, and Vistra Corp. (VST), from the Utilities sector. These stocks join our portfolio as strong contenders poised for growth.
Changes also bring necessary farewells. We have sold Encompass Health Corporation (EHC), OSI Systems (OSIS), Philip Morris International (PM), and VeriSign, Inc. (VRSN) as they no longer rank among the top momentum-driven picks.
Additionally, we added to our existing positions in Argan, Inc. (AGX) and Newmont Corporation (NEM) to fortify these promising areas. Meanwhile, we trimmed our position in Dollar General Corporation (DG) as it underperformed this week.
Sector and Holdings Overview
The Industrials sector has emerged as our top sector this week, reflecting its crucial role in a diversified portfolio. Known for its resilience and consistent performance during various economic cycles, Industrials continue to be a strategic focus. Our current top holdings feature NEU, ATI, and JBL, highlighting a blend of sectors that strive to maximize returns.
Performance Spotlight
Oracle Corporation (ORCL) stood out with a notable gain of 3.81%, leading the positive momentum charge this week, while Dollar General (DG) faced a decline of 3.99%, prompting a strategic reduction. As the market dynamics continue to unfold, we’re keen on refining and adapting our investments to maintain momentum.
