Navigating the Markets: Weekly Portfolio Update

This week in the market has been a mixed bag, but we’re navigating it well thanks to a key tool from Andreas Clenow’s book, Stocks on the Move. Our regime filter—a crucial aspect of our strategy—indicates the S&P 500 has been above its 200-day moving average for 103 days, which means we can still make new investments. With our cash share at a low 1.19%, we’re almost fully invested and strategically engaged.

Trades of the Week

We have a few strategic shifts in our portfolio this week. New Buys include HL, MP, and STOK. HL (Hecla Mining Company) joins our ranks from the mining sector, offering a solid addition with its momentum in precious metals. MP (MP Materials), also in the mining sector, is here for its unique connection to rare earth elements. STOK (Stoke Therapeutics), from the healthcare sector, brings cutting-edge innovation to our portfolio. On the flip side, we’ve exited CCL (Carnival Corporation) and GEV (Global Environment Energy) to realign our momentum strategy. As part of our rebalancing, we’ve reduced their positions in AMD and WDC to stay dynamically poised.

Portfolio Highlights

The Technology sector continues to lead, often playing a crucial role as a growth engine in portfolios due to its innovative potential. Our top holdings are MEDP, FLEX, and NVDA, showcasing diversity across various industries. This week, AMD was our best performer, with an impressive increase of 27.75%, whereas PSIX was our laggard, dropping by 18.45%. Notably, in September, the Trade Tuesday Momentum Portfolio gained 8.8% and is now up 19.2% for the year. We’re very excited to see what the 4th quarter will bring.
