Navigating Market Rotations: This Week’s Portfolio Update
This week, the markets have kept us on ouur toes, with the S&P 500 spending 68 days above its 200-day moving average, indicating a positive trend overall. The semiconductor sector, however, finds itself in a bit of a struggle, as we anticipate further sector rotations. With our cash position at 5.5%, we’re nearly fully invested, making careful stock selection more crucial than ever.
In our portfolio moves, we’ve entered positions in Datadog (DDOG), a company specializing in cloud software services; DaVita (DVA), which operates a network of kidney dialysis centers; and Palo Alto Networks (PANW), known for its cyber security solutions. On the flip side, we decided to exit Coherent (COHR), MasTec (MTZ), and Quanta Services (PWR) to align better with our strategic focus. Our holdings in ATI Inc., Flex (FLEX), and MACOM Technology Solutions (MTSI) were trimmed due to ranking changes in our momentum strategy. No additions were made to any existing positions.
Technology remains at the forefront of our portfolio, given its dynamic role in driving growth and innovation. This week, technology names like Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and Dell Technologies (DELL) shone brightly as top performers. Our current top holdings, however, include diverse names such as UnitedHealth Group (UNH), DaVita (DVA), and Humana (HUM). Unfortunately, Intel Corporation (INTC) and MACOM (MTSI) were among the laggards. In terms of performance, our portfolio edged out a slight gain of 0.01%, trailing behind the SPY’s more robust rise of 0.83%.
Our model continues to identify opportunities in stocks not currently held, with names like SanDisk (SNDK), DELL, Micron Technology (MU), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Intel (INTC) as top picks. As always, we’re keen to hear your thoughts on these insights or your own investment journey. Feel free to share in the comments below.
