Between no buys and 1 sell, this week added up to 1 trade.
As usual, the full ranking for week 40 is posted here.

This week, our trading activity was guided by the prevailing market tone with the S&P 500 trading above its 200-day moving avereage for 122 days—still good conditions for momentum investing according to the regime filter we use, inspired by Andreas Clenow’s ‘Stocks on the Move’. Notably, yesterday the 10-year US Treasury yield reached 5.25%, resulting in some hesitancy in equities, although the VIX remains calm, suggesting no major panic. As a precaution, we closed our position in Humana (HUM) while adding to our existing investments in ELF and HALO. With the market showing mixed signals, one might wonder when investors will start locking in yields for the long term.
Our portfolio adjustments this week were straightforward. We sold Humana, a major health insurance provider, as it no longer fits our criteria for top momentum stocks. On the flip side, we added to our positions in e.l.f. Beauty (ELF), known for its cosmetics, and Halozyme Therapeutics (HALO), which specializes in drug delivery solutions. These enhancements were made as part of our weekly momentum trades, an essential aspect of our strategy.
The Healthcare sector stood out as the week’s top sector for us, with its typical stability playing a key role in our investment lineup. Updates in our ranks see Halozyme (HALO) and Haemonetics (HAE), in the blood management solutions space, leading the charge. Park Hotels & Resorts (PK) also remains strong in our portfolio. On the performance front, our portfolio is modestly ahead of the SPY, finishing the week up by 2.8% compared to SPY’s 0.3% return. Top performers included Illumina (ILMN), which gained 13.9%, and Snow Software (SN) at 8.9%. Meanwhile, Dell Technologies (DELL) and Haemonetics (HAE) experienced some downturns. Our model ranks Moderna (MRNA), PBF Energy (PBF), and others favorably, although they’re not in the current holdings.
