This week in the markets certainly kept us on our toes! With the S&P 500 maintaining its stance above the 200-day moving average for 93 days straight, we’re still mostly invested in equities, with a cash position of 2.7%, reflecting a nearly full investment. The market environment remains challenging as we’ve seen some of our holdings slip into the red. For instance, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) hasn’t been performing as well as we’d hoped.
This week, we welcomed Nutanix (NTNX) and PBF Energy (PBF) to our portfolio. NTNX is a company that focuses on cloud computing and enterprise virtualization, while PBF is in the refining sector, dealing with petroleum products. On the selling side, we decided to part ways with Hims & Hers Health, Inc. (HIMS) and Middleby Corporation (MIDD), both at a loss, as they dropped out of our top 10%. Alongside these, we added to our existing position in Molina Healthcare (MOH) and made reductions to Carpenter Technology (CRS), Illumina Inc. (ILMN), UnitedHealth Group (UNH), and Vornado Realty Trust (VNO).
Technology remains our top-performing sector, often seen as the engine driving growth in many portfolios. It’s no surprise that companies like Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and NetApp (NTAP) have been among our top performers this week. On the other hand, CRS and VNO didn’t fare as well. As for our top holdings, we’ve retained positions in PK, ATI, and NTNX. This week, our portfolio achieved a weekly return of 1.06%, a notable difference compared to the SPY’s decline of 0.72%. Our model continues to favor top-ranked stocks like Dell Technologies (DELL), Palo Alto Networks (PANW), Okta (OKTA), and Qualys (QLYS), even though they aren’t currently held.
