We went with 2 trades this week — 1 buy and 1 sell.
Not just our holdings — the entire week 38 ranking is here.

As we dive into the latest movements within our portfolio, it’s clear that the last days of summer remain full of surprises. The unsettling situations in the Middle East and Ukraine continue, and we’re hearing a lot about AI bosses wanting to take a breather with development. Meanwhile, in the world of stocks, the S&P 500 remains healthily above its 200-day moving average for 112 days now, which has allowed us to stay fully invested with a low 1.5% cash share.
This week brought some changes. We initiated a position in VEEV, a cloud-based software provider for the life sciences sector, keeping with our momentum investing strategy. Unfortunately, ATI was no longer fitting into our top momentum stocks ranking and was sold. We added to our existing holdings in FTNT and HALO, two stocks that continue to show promise on our momentum charts. On the other side, we trimmed our positions in CRL, HPE, and SN to maintain portfolio balance—nothing too dramatic, just usual adjusting.
The healthcare sector continues to shine as our portfolio’s top performer, known for its defensive characteristics in uncertain market times. Stocks like HAE and newcomers like VEEV align well with this theme. Meanwhile, PK, HAE, and NTNX form the core of our holdings with diversified prospects. Looking at this week’s specific winners, PANW (+12.7%) and CRWD (+9.5%) led the pack, while ELF (-9.9%) and CRL (-6.9%) faced some headwinds. Overall, our portfolio edged up with a weekly return of 0.3%, modestly ahead of SPY’s decline of -2.0%. Our model, which draws on insights from Andreas Clenow’s ‘Stocks on the Move’, currently sees potential in names like MRNA, PBF, and ELF, while we keep an eye on momentum rankings.
