Disclaimer

The financial world had an interesting week, with stocks seeming to stall while oil prices saw a continuous rise. The S&P 500, trading above its 200-day moving average for 107 days, indicates a favorable environment for new buys. Our portfolio is almost fully invested with a minimal cash share of 0.7%, showing we’re taking full advantage of the market opportunity.

This week’s portfolio activity included some momentum investing trades influenced by our Stocks on the Move ranking method. We initiated new positions in Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF), a well-known clothing retailer, and Halozyme Therapeutics (HALO), which develops innovative drug delivery solutions. On the sell side, we exited from our position in Vornado Realty Trust (VNO). Additionally, we added to our existing stakes in Allegheny Technologies (ATI) and NetApp (NTAP), while trimming our holdings in Baxter International (BAX), Fortinet (FTNT), and Palo Alto Networks (PANW). Clearly, the rebalancing was to keep the portfolio aligned with our momentum strategy.

In summary, healthcare continued to be a powerhouse sector in our portfolio, known for its resilience during various market conditions. Companies in this top sector include HAE and other key firms. Our current top holdings are PK, HAE, and NTNX, showing a diverse mix of industries. Among the week’s winners, Dell Technologies and PBF Energy soared by double digits, while PANW had a challenging time, shedding 13%. Our portfolio concluded the week 1.7 percentage points behind SPY, with a return of -1.9% compared to SPY’s -0.3%. Our model currently favors top-ranked stocks such as Moderna (MRNA), Qualys (QLYS), and others, although they are not yet part of the holdings.
