Ranking

Disclaimer

This week in the markets, our momentum investing approach is showing promising results. Leveraging the Stocks on the Move ranking, our portfolio continues to operate under favorable conditions, as the S&P 500 has maintained its position above the 200-day moving average for 103 days. We’re almost fully invested with just 1.1% in cash reserves. Though we lost 3% in August while the S&P 500 gained 2.6%, our yearly performance remains strong with a solid 24% uptick.

In our recent weekly momentum trades, we’ve welcomed BAX, a healthcare product manufacturer, and ELF, known for its affordable cosmetic products, to our portfolio. These additions reflect the current momentum within their sectors. On the other hand, we parted ways with AMD, a well-known semiconductor company, and CNC, a health insurance provider, mainly due to their declining rankings and performance against our criteria.

This week, we added to our existing positions in HAE, a company focused on blood technology solutions, HUM, involved in healthcare services, and OKTA, a key player in cybersecurity. Conversely, we trimmed our holdings in ATI, a materials science company, NTAP, known for its data management solutions, and VNO, a real estate investment trust.

Technology continues to lead our top sector focus, with companies like OKTA and CRWD showcasing strong momentum. It’s a classic driver of growth within any diversified portfolio, though not our sole focus. Meanwhile, our current top holdings include PK, a hospitality real estate company, SN, which is involved in oil and gas exploration, and HAE. Highlighting this week’s standout performers, OKTA surged by 28.0%, while CRWD and FTNT trailed closely with gains of 20.3% and 11.3%, respectively. On the downside, HAE fell by 5.3%, NTAP dipped 3.6%, and PK declined 3.0%.

We finished the week with a clear +3.0 percentage points advantage over the S&P 500’s performance. Our model is currently favoring stocks like QLYS, AVTR, PBF, PANW, which we don’t yet hold but are keeping a close eye on.
