This week brought 3 new trades — 1 buy and 2 sells.
Week 43’s Momentum Ranking, based on the Stocks on the Move method, is here.

This week in the momentum investing world, our portfolio showed resilience even as markets experienced a slight downward drift. Utilizing Andreas Clenow’s ‘Stocks on the Move’ ranking strategy, we evaluate stocks based on their annualized adjusted slop. Currently, the S&P 500 has been trading above its 200-day moving average for 137 days, which aligns with our strategy to remain cautiously optimistic. Our cash share is quite low at 0.7%, indicating that we’re nearly fully invested in the market.
In this week’s trades, we added Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) to our lineup. A prominent player in the energy sector, MPC made it to our portfolio due to its performance within the ‘Stocks on the Move’ ranking. On the other hand, we had to part ways with Dell Technologies (DELL) and Palo Alto Networks (PANW) as they dipped just slightly below their 100-day moving average. Additionally, we added to our existing positions in Avantor, Inc. (AVTR) and Stifel Financial Corp (SN), while we trimmed our holding in Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), in line with our momentum strategy.
Healthcare continues to shine as the top sector in our portfolio, reflecting its classic role as a stabilizing force. Companies like Halozyme Therapeutics (HALO) and Veeva Systems (VEEV) are part of this group. Our top holdings this week include HALO, Park Hotels & Resorts Inc. (PK), and AVTR. Among the week’s performers, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (ANF) led with a whopping 13.6% gain, followed by HALO with 10.9%. Conversely, HPE, Okta, Inc. (OKTA), and CrowdStrike Holdings, Inc. (CRWD) were the laggards. This week the portfolio ended modestly ahead of the SPY, with a weekly return of -0.8% compared to SPY’s -1.4%, a difference of +0.6 percentage points. Our model is currently favoring stocks like Moderna, Inc. (MRNA), Pinterest, Inc. (P), and VEEV, among others.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on these movements. Feel free to share your insights and experiences in the comments!
