Ranking

Disclaimer

This week in the market, the S&P 500 has been above its 200-day moving average for 73 days. This supports our strategy based on momentum rankings—taking a page from Andreas Clenow’s ‘Stocks on the Move’. We’re currently almost fully invested, as reflected in our low cash share of 0.9%. The market seems a bit rocky, with July presenting challenges, particularly for AI and semiconductor stocks, which could be influencing overall sentiment.

Our portfolio sees some changes this week. We’ve initiated new buys in BTSG and VNO. BTSG, focused on the tech sector, brings innovative digital infrastructures to our lineup. Meanwhile, VNO, operating in real estate, adds a fresh angle to our investment mosaic. On the other hand, we decided to sell FIX, GLW, and MTSI, as these stocks are no longer fitting within the top ranks of our model’s momentum adjustments. Additionally, we added to our existing position in ATI.

Healthcare stands out as the prominent sector in our portfolio, often acting as a stabilizing force during market volatility. With companies like UnitedHealth (UNH), DaVita (DVA), and Humana (HUM) in our top holdings, we maintain a balanced exposure to this essential segment. PANW and DDOG were our top performers, experiencing gains of 7.0% and 2.2%, respectively. However, some stocks like WDC and AMAT didn’t fare as well, noting significant declines. Comparing our portfolio’s weekly return of -3.39% to the SPY’s -0.85% reveals the challenges faced this period. As we look ahead, our model currently favors momentum leaders like DELL, MU, AMD, HUM, and INTC, hinting at potential future adjustments.
