Navigating through the current market has been quite a journey, particularly with July being a bit of a challenging month. Today, we’re making shifts, especially moving away from chips and semi stocks like AMAT, LRCX, STX, and WDC, where unfortunately, we had to sell at a loss. But who knows? They might bounce back in the future. What’s more intriguing is we’re approaching a fully invested portfolio given the regime filter metric with the S&P 500 above its 200-day moving average for 78 days, with a low cash share of just 1.1%.

Let’s dive into this week’s trades. Our recent buys include Carpenter Technology (CRS), known for specialty alloys, CVS Health (CVS) providing pharmacy health services, Illumina (ILMN) specializing in genetic sequencing, Molina Healthcare (MOH) catering to government-sponsored health programs, and Park Hotels & Resorts (PK), a real estate investment trust. On the other hand, apart from the tech stocks from the semiconductor sector we mentioned earlier, we also sold DOCN, FLEX, MKSI, and NVT. In terms of portfolio tactics, we added to our existing position in Vornado Realty Trust (VNO), while trimming positions in Centene (CNC) and Fortinet (FTNT).

Healthcare shines as the top sector this week, often seen as a stabilizing component during market volatility. Notable companies in this sector include titans like UnitedHealth Group. Our top holdings are currently UNH, CVS, and DVA. Among our assets, DELL outperformed this week with a rise of 7.9%, while PANW was a laggard, down 11.5%. It has been a tough week for the portfolio overall with a return of -1.03%, underperforming the SPY, which clocked in at -0.38%. Our model currently ranks DELL, AMD, HUM, DDOG, and PANW highly, indicating future opportunities.

I’d love to hear how you’re managing your portfolio this month. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
